Oh please, call me Thomas or Tom. I feel as though interviews are invasive enough for us to speak in friendlier terms.
Right, thank you Tom. Well, how about we get started. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself Tom?
Such a broad question, ha ha. Well, I'm a bachelor living in Grodic's Hollow. Aye, 'ello ladies. Just playing with you miss. After that little bit of an interjection, you could easily see that I do quite like the company of a lady or two in the evenings. I'm quite fond of the drink you know, Sherry is the way to go. You can't beat a good Sherry after a long day of teaching these tiny... mini wizards. I can be a tad blunt, though I do believe everyone needs to hear the things that they may not want to. I am a firm believer that hard work and dedication can get you anywhere... I mean, take a look at me! I try not to speak too highly of myself as it is considered bad luck, did you know that Sally, my dear?
Ahem, no. No, I did not Tom. You mentioned that hard work and dedication can get you anywhere, just to look at you. What do you mean by that?
Well, I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, if you know what I mean. My father was a drunk, as was my mother, so I being the eldest, had to step in and take care of my little sister. I'm not going to lie, I was a little tyrant in my younger years, but those are the years that taught me life lessons. My sister and I had to do some pretty shady things to survive and I was horrified when I had to leave her to go to Hogwarts. I knew that I had to use my abilities to turn my life around. I didn't want to end up like my father. My sister soon joined me and the ten months that we were at Hogwarts, we were home. My sister and I worked hard, graduated and we now both have careers that we can be proud of. It doesn't matter the background you come from, you can always make something of yourself.
What an inspiring story! We're eager to learn more. Now, your sister and yourself have prominent careers you said. What career have you secured under your belt?
In my final year of studies at Hogwarts, I was still on the fence of which direction I wanted to head in. The prospects of becoming an Auror were high and it was an interesting job. I wasn't much into the politics of the position, but hey, there are politics any where you are. Then I got to thinking... I really did like studying and helping my classmates pass their exams. I had an impeccable talent in Potions, so it dawned on me. Why not become a professor. Then, I would never have to leave the place I call home. So that is what I did. I went on to become a teacher's aid for a few years before having the position of Potions Professor offered to me. After three years of being in the position, I was then offered Head of Slytherin House position as well.
It seems as though you have certainly been doing well for yourself. Now, ahem, all of the young ladies out there are dying to know if you have a pretty lady hanging off your arm...
Ha ha, to be honest, I have not met the woman I am going to settle down with, if that's what you mean. I'm single, and I am currently taking applications. Applicants can find me in the Hog's Head on most night.
